Introducing The Buddy: bespoke frame made by Oliver Goldsmith specially for Zachary Stevenson, Vancouver’s own Buddy Holly!

We’ve written about bespoke frames before, but this takes our service to another level. Zachary has been playing the roll of Buddy Holly in The Buddy Holly Story for several years running now, and truly wanted to look the part. Check out the original frame Mr. Holly wore below..

Here’s Nada in her bespoke ORBISON (designed for Roy himself by Oliver Goldsmith in 1964) and Zach in his one-of-a-kind BUDDY!

Thanks Zach, for letting us help make your eyewear dream come true! Follow his progress on twitter @stevensonzach

TITANIUM GANGSTER

Saturday, April 6th, 2013

Theo is pretty bad-@$$, but this collection just tops it off. Basing their recent titanium styles off of reknowned bank-robbers, crime-lords, mafia-heads and criminals. Check out the models BRASCO (as in Donnie Brasco), MONTANA (as in Tony Montana) and CORLEONE the family namesake of The Godfather books and films. Peep their related 2010 acetate collection here.

All these pieces are made of pure titanium and use a customized revolutionary titanium-press to create the beveling and cool sculptural look. The spring hinge ensures that these are a great fit for many, including Scarface.

THE DREADED FOUR LETTER WORD…

G lasses and glue don’t go together (your warranty may become VOID!)
L essens the chance of successful repair (as it can splinter materials when removed…)
U se your noggin, not your Krazy (a wayward drop of glue can wreck your lenses!)
E ase on in, do not despair! (Maybe fixing your glasses while not being able to wear your glasses isn’t such a grand idea…)

“I, eyewear-sporting citizen, promise faithfully to avoid glue as a repair tool for my eyeglasses.”

When your glasses break, or a piece falls off,  please do not try to glue them back together. You never know what that sticky stuff could do, including voiding your warranty or making them even harder to fix. Leave the hot, the crazy, the epoxy-style glues alone and let your skilled, experienced optician fix you up. If a screw comes loose, a temple falls off, or a nosepad is lost? Use a little dental floss, maybe a needle and thread, or sometimes a nerdy band-aid is a safe way to temporarily reconstruct your specs.
